On December 6, as part of her exhibition "Trésors cachés! Lunel et son patrimoine écrit", Valérie-Alice Dumoulin, director of the Musée Médard, will take you on a tour of "La belle histoire des armoiries". The conference will take place in the Salle de La Rotonde at Espace Castel.
Coats of arms are the colorful emblems that distinguish an individual or corporate body (town, corporation, etc.). These distinctive marks of families or communities are generally represented on a shield, according to defined rules. Also known as "arms" or "blazon"? Are they the same thing? What do coats of arms mean? What's the difference between a coat of arms and a blazon? Who has the right to bear a coat of arms? How long has heraldry existed? These are just some of the questions Valérie-Alice Dumoulin aims to answer.
Passionate about heraldry, she is a member of the Société Française d?héraldique et de sigillographie. In other words, she has become an expert on the colorful emblems used in the Middle Ages as an ingenious system for identifying and recognizing people. With this Rendez-vous du Patrimoine, the Musée Médard invites you to discover the role and history of the science of heraldry. So don't hesitate, and dive into "La belle histoire des armoiries": the event is free of charge and open to children aged 12 and over!
