"Jean Hugo, le regard magique. His life in Lunel from 1920 to 1984"- Musée Médard - Lunel - June 19 to September 22, 2024
Wednesday, June 19, 2024 - 2:00 pm - Sunday, September 22, 2024 - 6:00 pm
Opening Wednesday, June 19, 7:30 pm
The exhibition Jean Hugo, le regard magique. His life in Lunel from 1920 to 1984 celebrates the fortieth anniversary of the death of the artist (1894-1984), in conjunction with two major exhibitions: Jean Hugo, le regard magique at the Fabre Museum in Montpellier (June 28 to October 13, 2024) and Jean Hugo, entre ciel et terre at the Paul Valéry Museum in Sète (June 29, 2024 to October 13, 2024).
The Musée Médard offers an in-depth exploration of Jean Hugo?s creative cocoon in Lunel: the Mas de Fourques, where he lived for over sixty years (1920 ? 1984). Thanks to the memory work carried out by the family, it is possible to discover all the riches of a place and a powerful heritage: the artist?s studio; the passion for the Camargue and its traditions; local sources of inspiration and walking as a means of lovingly appropriating his environment.
Paintings, photographs, sketches, objects and documents trace the originality of a career in which life and art are in constant dialogue, in the simplicity of everyday life.
