Gérard Cases has been painting since childhood. A surveyor by profession, he has always been passionate about this art. In his creative process, before the brushstroke comes the photo. "I take a lot of photos on my travels. Then I print them on poster-size paper and cut them out," he says. The result is stunning. You no longer know where the original image is. Painting and photography intermingle between abstract and figurative.

Journeys
Themes include the Venice carnival, seascapes, still lifes, Morocco and local ponds. Nothing is planned in advance; the painting takes shape as it goes along. Gérard Cases also produces a number of watercolors. A dozen or so are on show, including some on the subject of bullfighting. He has exhibited in the region and beyond, notably at Viavino. The Tourist Office in his home town, however, is a first.
