Dionysus/Bacchus can be considered the strangest and most complex of the gods in the vast classical pantheon.
The son of a god and a mortal, he establishes a crucial link between the human and the divine. Master of the vine and wine, and therefore of intoxication, he is also associated with fertility, theater, ecstasy and self-abandonment. His festivals reconcile man with nature, which offers its gifts spontaneously, and fierce animals rub shoulders peacefully.
