Every Tuesday, for some time now, Marie-Pierre has been coming to take care of her widowed father in the neighborhood where she grew up. She spends the day with him, doing his housework and ironing. They chat a bit—about this and that. They talk about Chantal, her mother, who is no longer with them, and then they go out. They take their usual walk.
But most importantly, on Tuesdays, Marie-Pierre and her father go to Monoprix. They pick up things for the week. People know them here. They watch them. They watch Marie-Pierre especially. Marie-Pierre is beautiful.
A long time ago, Marie-Pierre’s name used to be Jean-Pierre.
